Kindergarten Highlights!
1/22-2/1
Mrs.Geissler discussed Martin Luther King Jr and his life with the children. We discussed how everyone is different, but still special in their own way.
We continued to learn about dinosaurs. Here are some of the children pretending to be paleontologists in the sand table!
The Kindergarten children made "sunflakes" with the help of Ms. Merklinger's 3rd grade class. The "sunflakes" will be sent to Sandy Hook Elementary in Newton, Connecticut. Schools all around the world are sending snowflakes to decorate the elementary school.
Aryan was our Star!
Aryan and fruit snacks, his favorite snack!
Aryan's mom and dad read his favorite story, The Goodnight Train, to the class.
Aryan's Trinkets and Treasures
Chef Aryan and his Sous Chef created a delicious Fish Pond snack!
We learned about fossils, and even watched a video of a real dinosaur fossil dig! After the video, the children created their own fossils; one dinosaur and one shell. Our fossils were made out of clay. Our Kindergarten paleontologists made observations about their fossils.
Luca in the Science Center looking at real fossils!
The children enjoyed the iPad app Puppet Pals. With this app the children created their own puppet shows and even recorded the voices.
Luca's mom was our surprise reader for the 80th Day of School! She read How Do Dinosaurs Say I Love You? and It's Hard to Be Five. Luca was very surprised!
The First Grade put on a performance of The Blue Horse. They created beautiful pictures in Art class and said their lines in Spanish. The First Graders did a fabulous job and we were very happy they invited us!
In Math, we began our chapter on Geometry and
Fractions. We learned two songs about shapes that the children enjoyed.
Virgenya was our Word Wall Rockstar! She helped us add our new sight words go, on, and it to our word wall.
