Kindergarten Highlights 1/7-1/18

We also celebrated Vinay's 6th birthday. Happy Birthday Vinay!
 
We learned two new apps on the iPads, Monkey Words and Word Bingo. These apps are a great way for the children to practice sight word recognition.

In Math, we continued exploring Subtraction. We used the SMART Board to reinforce the concepts we had learned. The children had a great time creating subtraction sentences based on stories about foods!

This week, we began our study of Dinosaurs. The children learned about different types of dinosaurs, what a paleontologist's job is, and many other facts. They also enjoyed learning some fun dinosaur songs. We will continue to learn even more about dinosaurs next week!

We were lucky enough to have two surprise readers on the 70th Day of School! 
Aryan and Anya's mom came in to read us a story.
Michael's mom read us a silly story about dinosaurs dancing!

Madison was our "Word Wall Rockstar!" She helped us add our new sight words, off, we, and us to our word wall. These words were from our story Sing a Song and poem "Covers."

The children having some fun with the parachute in P.E. class! They put together a fabulous dance to a dinosaur song.

Reminder: Tuesday we begin eating lunch in the AP room. Please send your child to school with a lunch that does not need to be warmed up, as we do not have access to a microwave. Thank you in advance!

December Highlights

December was a very busy month in Kindergarten!

We got together with our 5th Grade Buddies to make candle wreaths. We displayed them in the hallway for the holiday season.

In December, we had two Stars of the Week!

We were very excited to see the first snow fall while in school!


We spent December discussing different customs and traditions celebrated during the holiday season.

We learned about St. Lucia Day, a Christmas celebration in Sweden.
Aryan's mom visited both Kindergarten classes to read a Christmas story.

Continuing our exploration of holidays around the world, we learned about Las Posadas, a Mexican Christmas tradition.
