February Highlights

In the beginning of February we welcomed Akhila back from her trip to India and France! Akhila kept a journal while there, filled with many wonderful pictures from her trip.

February was Dental Health month. 
Aryan and Vinay practiced brushing our classes' giant teeth!

We learned what types of food are good for our teeth.

 Dr. Banker, a local dentist, visited Kindergarten to talk about how to keep our teeth healthy.
 
 

 Madison was our Star of the Week for the week of February 4th.

On February 6th we celebrated Akhila's 6th birthday with cupcakes, cookies, and juice. Happy Birthday Akhila!

The children learned about families in Spanish class.They presented information about las familias.

The First Grade had their publishing party. Mrs. Molloy's class invited us to listen to their fabulous stories!

We took our winter walk to make seasonal observations.
Michael and Amelie observed that we need to wear coats during winter because it is very cold!
The children also observed that there were no leaves on the trees.
On a snowy Friday, the children created snowmen in Art class with Mrs. Howard. They each created part of the snowmen.

On February 11th we celebrated Siddharth's 6th birthday with cupcakes. Happy Birthday Siddharth!

On February 15th, we celebrated Madison's 6th birthday with cupcakes. Happy Birthday Madison!

 Mrs. Zamor-Dimbeng, Madison's mom, discussed Black History Month with the Kindergarten classes. She read Of Thee I Sing: A Letter to My Daughters by Barack Obama. Both classes created a Circle of Friends, showing that we are all different but special in our own ways.
 

In Math we have been learning about shapes. The children had a great time finding three dimensional shapes around our own classroom. They found cylinders, rectangular solids, spheres, and cubes! They were amazed that these were items that we use daily.
 We also had a Shape Museum where the children sorted shapes on the SMART Board.

During February we celebrated the Chinese New Year. Yanchun Zhang, Virgenya's mom, talked to the Kindergarten classes about the Chinese traditions during the New Year celebration.

Siddharth's mom and dad were our surprise readers for the 90th day of school. Siddharth was very surprised!

Kindergarten got together with our 5th grade buddies to create silhouettes using our shadows. We had a great time with the 5th grade. 

Our Class Trip to the Jade Garden was a blast! The children tried many different foods that they had not tasted before. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

On February 28th we celebrated the 100th Day of School!
All the children did such a fabulous job with their 100th Day projects!
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Each day in Kindergarten we feed our class pet, our dinosaur! On the 100th day we counted all the bingo chips in his belly. The children were so excited to finally count all 100 chips.
We listened to fun counting to100 songs. The children were excited to get up and do some dancing!
We took 100 steps to the AP room before lunch!
We concluded the fun with an ice cream sundae party!
 
 
 

 In February we had two "Word Wall Rockstars" that helped add our new sight words.
